Skate Deck Design

For this project we had to create a skate deck design using vector and raster elements, brand our work, and use a "predator" theme.  The budget for this piece was $30.00 for the print.

Final Product!!!  :)

Used an old skate deck to mount mine onto.
Although the blue of the snake/ splatter in the background didn't print with the same colour intensity of how i originally wanted it, I think it still works, and turned out great!

Used this texture for the snake's skin

Painting I made, flipped it on its side, and vectorized it for the background

watercolour splatter I created for the background

Vector illustration took around 5 hours, then 1 hour or so to play around with the colours/gradients.

In the Style of...

The objective of this assignment is to create your own artwork in the style of a specific artist assigned to you. My artist is James Paterson. His website called 'Presstube' shows a large collection of his work, including one of his most recent projects: The Rotten Fruit Tardis.  This is an interactive animation that takes you through different worlds. Your curser turns into a small rocket that is squeezed out of this organic creature that James calls the 'mother ship' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9AtXfFuOLE. In this world you can discover numerous amounts of illustrations James has created.

The work of James Paterson is very abstract and surreal accompanied by odd titles for each piece. He also works mainly in pen and ink.

Here are three of my own renderings in the style of his work!

Shoe Ad

For Digital Photography class we had to make a shoe ad. I chose to make mine a running shoe ad, and used my boyfriend to model the shoe! :) The shoes are by a company called Asics and the slogans are taken from their website (not my own). I didn't add any graphics other then text because I didn't want to take away from the photograph itself. Here is my ad and the original photograph:

Ninja Restaurant

In class we had to design a menu for the restaurant Ninja in New York http://www.ninjanewyork.com/index.html We had to design the cover, drinks, main course, and the back of the menu. The Blank space is where the information would go. Here's what I came up with:

PS: It's painted using Soya Sauce!!

Paper Zoo - DMA project

The objective of this project is to create a "paper zoo" of six different biomes and the animals that inhabit those areas. In class we were divided into groups where each group was given the task to paint in watercolour a specific Biome that would represent the background of the final product.

We were given six animals that we're required to draw: Penguins, Bush baby, Lion, Squid, Desert Tortoise, and a Buffalo. We also had to choose six of our own, I chose: Arctic Hare, Toucan, Giraffe, Sea-horse, Snake, and a black tailed prairie dog. I chose these animals because they look very different from the required animals and they would be interesting to draw.

Here are my drawings:

Bush Baby
Toucan

Lion
Giraffe

Squid
Seahorse

Desert tortoise
Snake

Buffalo
Black tailed prairie dog

Here is the final product of the Paper Zoo using the backgrounds created in class and integrating my own drawings of the animals:
